Homemade A/C

Postby pesiroil on Sat Jul 15, 2006 12:12 am

OK Ive been reading alot of online articles, about homemade A/C. I'm cheap, no a/c in house, just a wall unit in parents room, my brothers and my sisters and the living room. yeah i get no a/c in my room. OK well its not my room I'm gonna attach this homemade contraption to, its my basement. here are some articles.

OK, so well those are 2 main articles of alot i read. The first one is a simple system, but would cost alot of money which ruins the point.
so what I'm thinking of doing is collecting about 5, or even more picnic coolers. seal them up, bury them outside deep with copper piping attaching them all and an intake and outtake leading to my basement. then in my basement ill have a fan rigged up like in the first article.

hmm. any comments or ideas? anybody willing to help me with this project?

ok here are some other ideas now i thought of, instead of a bunch of coolers, why not a couple of steel garbage cans? lets say the the tops of them are 3 feet below ground. damnnn thats alot of digging,(3ft + ~4ft = ~7ft) but i can take it out in a weekend....i hope.
yeah and when i asked for some help on the project, not physical digging help is needed, just more planning and calculations.
we would have to seal it properly, but i think it would work.
or we could find something like this guy did with his computer watercooling system.

just walk around with as little clothing as possible or in the nude if nobody is home and buy a fan or multiple fans if need be.
